Terms &
Conditions

The terms governing your use of LifePassport as an identity owner, parent, or business.

Last updated: 4 March 2026

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the LifePassport platform, including the LifePassport mobile application ("App"), the LifePassport website at www.lifepassport.id ("Website"), and the LifePassport Consumer Portal ("Portal").

By using any part of the LifePassport platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the platform.

These Terms apply differently depending on your role:

  • Sections 3, 6–16 apply to Identity Owners (individuals using the App)
  • Section 4 applies additionally to parents and guardians managing child profiles
  • Section 5 applies additionally to Identity Consumers (businesses using the Portal and API)

2. Definitions

"LifePassport", "we", "us", "our" — Murphee Ltd, the company operating the LifePassport platform.
"Identity Owner" — An individual who creates an account on the LifePassport App to verify, store, and selectively share their identity.
"Child" — A person under the age of 18 whose identity is managed by a parent or legal guardian through a Child Profile.
"Parent" — A parent or legal guardian who creates and manages a Child Profile within their own LifePassport account.
"Identity Consumer" — A business or organisation that registers on the Consumer Portal to request identity verification from Identity Owners.
"Claim" — A specific piece of identity information (e.g. "full name", "over 18") that can be verified and shared.
"Verification Request" — A request from an Identity Consumer to verify one or more Claims about an Identity Owner.
"Verification Receipt" — A digitally signed record of a verification event, containing no personal data.

3. Identity Owners

Terms for individuals using the LifePassport App

3.1 Your Identity, Your Control

LifePassport is designed so that you are always in control of your identity data. Your verified credentials are stored on your device, encrypted and protected by your biometric authentication. No personal identity data is shared with any third party without your explicit, per-request approval.

3.2 Verification Process

You may verify your identity using the App by:

  • Scanning your passport or driving licence (OCR and NFC chip reading)
  • Completing a liveness verification (selfie check)
  • Connecting to government services via OAuth (e.g. HMRC, NHS Login)
  • Providing a self-asserted identity profile (subject to cross-referencing against documents)

You are responsible for ensuring that the identity documents you scan are your own and are valid. Attempting to verify using another person's documents is a violation of these Terms and may constitute identity fraud.

3.3 Sharing Identity Claims

When an Identity Consumer requests verification of your identity, you will receive a notification showing exactly which Claims are being requested. You may:

  • Approve — Share the requested Claims with the business
  • Approve with ZKP — Confirm facts (e.g. "over 18") without revealing the underlying data
  • Reject — Decline the request entirely

Approval requires biometric authentication (fingerprint or face recognition). Once approved, the shared Claims are transmitted to the requesting business. You can view all past sharing events in the App's audit log.

3.4 Device Security

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security of your device (screen lock, biometric protection, software updates)
  • Not sharing your device unlock credentials with others
  • Reporting a lost or stolen device promptly so we can revoke device registration
  • Not rooting, jailbreaking, or otherwise compromising your device's security

3.5 Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time through the App settings. This will:

  • Remove all server-side data (account details, hashes, device registrations) within 30 days
  • Retain verification receipts for up to 7 years (regulatory requirement)
  • Not affect data already stored on your device (uninstall the App to remove that)
  • Revoke all active child profile consents if you have child profiles

4. Children & Parental Responsibilities

Additional terms for parents managing child profiles

4.1 Eligibility

Children under 18 cannot create their own LifePassport account. Only a parent or legal guardian may create a Child Profile within their own account. By creating a Child Profile, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are the child's parent or legal guardian
  • You have the legal authority to consent to the processing of the child's data
  • The information you provide about the child is accurate

4.2 Parental Consent

As a Parent, you are solely responsible for managing your child's identity on the platform. This includes:

  • Deciding which platforms can request your child's identity verification
  • Granting and revoking consent for each platform individually
  • Completing re-verification checks when notified by the system
  • Reviewing your child's verification history in the audit log

Consent granted to a platform remains active until you revoke it, the child changes age bracket (triggering automatic review), or the platform's re-verification schedule expires without renewal.

4.3 Age Verification & Re-Verification

Child profiles are subject to periodic age re-verification. The system will automatically schedule re-checks based on the child's age bracket and the requirements of each consented platform. You will be notified via push notification when a re-verification is due.

If a re-verification is not completed within the required period, the child's verification status with the affected platform will be marked as stale and may be suspended.

4.4 Age Bracket Transitions

When a child transitions to a new age bracket (e.g. turning 13, 16, or 18), the system may automatically revoke consents that are no longer appropriate. You will be notified of any automatic revocations and may re-grant consent where appropriate.

4.5 Transition to Adult Account

When a child reaches 18, they may create their own LifePassport account and take ownership of their verified identity. The parent's Child Profile will be retired, and the young adult will manage their own identity going forward.

4.6 Secondary Parents

You may invite a secondary parent or guardian to co-manage a child's profile. Both parents will have visibility of the child's consent status and verification history. The primary parent retains ultimate control and can remove the secondary parent at any time.

5. Identity Consumers (Businesses)

Additional terms for businesses using the Consumer Portal and API

5.1 Registration & Eligibility

To use the LifePassport Consumer Portal and API, you must register your business by providing accurate company details, industry category, and contact information. You represent and warrant that:

  • You are authorised to act on behalf of the registered business
  • The business is a legitimate, legally registered entity
  • The industry category you select is accurate (this determines which Claims you may request)
  • You will comply with all applicable data protection laws when handling identity data received through our platform

5.2 Claim Restrictions

LifePassport enforces strict, regulation-based restrictions on which Claims each business category may request. These restrictions are enforced programmatically by our data governance service and cannot be overridden. Examples:

  • A gambling operator may request age verification but not medical data
  • A hotel may request name and address verification but not credit scores
  • A healthcare provider may request NHS number but not employment history

Attempting to circumvent these restrictions (e.g. by misrepresenting your industry category) is a material breach of these Terms and will result in immediate account termination.

5.3 Data Handling Obligations

When you receive identity data through the LifePassport platform, you are the data controller for that data under applicable data protection law. You agree to:

  • Process received identity data only for the stated purpose of the verification request
  • Implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect the data
  • Comply with applicable data retention requirements and delete data when no longer needed
  • Respond to data subject access requests from Identity Owners in a timely manner
  • Notify LifePassport and affected Identity Owners of any data breach involving their identity data

5.4 API Usage

Your use of the LifePassport API is subject to the following conditions:

  • API keys are confidential and must not be shared or exposed in client-side code
  • You must implement webhook signature verification (HMAC-SHA256) to prevent tampering
  • Rate limits apply and must be respected — excessive requests may result in throttling or suspension
  • You must maintain separate API keys for sandbox/staging and production environments
  • API keys should be rotated periodically and revoked immediately if compromised

5.5 Fees & Payment

LifePassport's pricing and payment terms are set out in your service agreement or on the pricing page of the Website. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Continued use of the platform after a pricing change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

5.6 Service Level

We aim to provide a highly available service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. Planned maintenance will be communicated in advance where possible. We are not liable for service interruptions beyond our reasonable control.

5.7 Child Verification Requests

If your platform receives verification data about a child (under 18), you must:

  • Implement age-appropriate access controls as required by the Online Safety Act 2023 and the Age Appropriate Design Code
  • Not use child identity data for profiling, behavioural advertising, or any purpose beyond the stated verification purpose
  • Comply with the re-verification schedule set by the system and the parent
  • Immediately cease using a child's verification data if the parent revokes consent

6. Account Registration

To create an account, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old (or a parent/guardian creating a Child Profile)
  • Provide a valid email address and phone number
  • Verify your email and phone via OTP codes
  • Create a strong password
  • Provide accurate information and keep it up to date

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at security@lifepassport.id.

7. Acceptable Use

You must not use LifePassport to:

  • Verify identity using documents that are not your own
  • Create accounts for fictitious persons
  • Attempt to access, modify, or interfere with other users' data
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App or any part of the platform
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the platform
  • Circumvent security controls, rate limits, or claim restrictions
  • Use the platform for money laundering, terrorism financing, or any illegal purpose
  • Misrepresent your identity, business category, or relationship to a child
  • Collect or store Identity Owners' data beyond what is necessary for the stated purpose
  • Use child identity data for profiling, advertising, or purposes beyond verification

8. Intellectual Property

The LifePassport platform, including the App, Website, Portal, API, documentation, branding, and all associated intellectual property, is owned by Murphee Ltd. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the platform in accordance with these Terms.

Your identity data remains your own. We do not claim ownership of any personal data you store on your device or share through the platform.

9. Data Protection

Our processing of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Key principles:

  • Personal identity data stays on your device — we store only hashes and receipts
  • Identity sharing requires explicit, per-request biometric approval
  • Children's data is subject to enhanced protections and parental control
  • Identity Consumers are responsible for the data they receive as data controllers
  • Verification receipts are retained for 7 years for regulatory audit purposes

10. Verification Accuracy

Important limitations

While LifePassport uses multiple verification methods (NFC chip reading, liveness detection, government API integration, document scanning), no identity verification system is infallible.

  • Verification results represent our best assessment based on available evidence
  • We do not guarantee that every verification is 100% accurate
  • Identity Consumers should implement appropriate risk management and not rely solely on LifePassport for high-risk decisions
  • Age estimation for children uses AI-based methods that have inherent accuracy limitations (typically ±3–5 years)
  • Self-asserted data has lower assurance than document-verified data (assurance levels are clearly indicated)

11. Limitation of Liability

Scope of our liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • LifePassport is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the reliability, accuracy, or availability of the platform.
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform.
  • Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the fees you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) £100.
  • We are not liable for decisions made by Identity Consumers based on verification results, or for the actions of Identity Owners in providing inaccurate information.
  • Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Indemnification

12.1 Identity Owners

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LifePassport from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your misuse of the platform, including providing false identity information or using another person's documents.

12.2 Identity Consumers

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LifePassport from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your handling of identity data received through the platform, including data breaches, non-compliance with data protection law, or misuse of verification data.

13. Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You breach these Terms
  • We reasonably suspect fraudulent activity
  • You misrepresent your identity, business category, or relationship to a child
  • You fail to pay applicable fees (Identity Consumers)
  • Required by law or regulatory authority

Where possible, we will provide notice before suspension or termination. In cases of suspected fraud or legal requirement, we may act immediately without notice.

Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately. Server-side data will be deleted within 30 days, except for verification receipts (retained for regulatory purposes) and any data we are required to retain by law.

14. Changes to These Terms

How we update these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via:

  • Email notification to registered users
  • In-app notification for Identity Owners
  • Portal notification for Identity Consumers
  • Updated "last updated" date on this page

Continued use of the platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the platform and delete your account.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
